Trip to the North East end of India

It was a sudden plan, all started when my friend Vivek called me and told about a place in the North East part of India - Tawang.
I started surfing the web to know more about this place, the more I googled, the more I fell in love with this place.

My mind is all set to visit Tawang after seeing those beautiful pictures, thanks to the Internet. The only thing that could probably stop me from going is getting some days off from work. So I had decided to ask my team lead for a week leave. All I wanted is to get the approval at the earliest so that I could make further plans.

Finally, I have got a green signal from my Team Lead!

I picked up the phone and dialled my friend to let him know that I have got the leaves and our plan is on. The reply that I got from him kept me in shock for a while. He had already booked the tickets for both of us, I was stunned!

Now let me tell you about our plan:

The plan is to go from Bangalore to Guwahati on a train, get Royal Enfield(The King of all Bikes) for rent from Guwahati and head to the beautiful Tawang.

Train Journey

We reached at the Majestic Railway station on time and boarded the train. We have a common friend in the train who's going to her hometown, came along with us as the train is going via Bhubaneswar. So three of us got into the train. Smile splashed on our face' while the train started moving slowly.

We began searching for our seats in the AC compartment. After a while, we found our berths, but we started looking for the TTR as our friend had booked a sleeper class ticket, hence the ticket needs to be converted. Finally, after the long wait, we found the TTR and got the ticket converted.

We got back to our place and sat comfortably. But after a couple of minutes, we realized that the AC isn't functioning. It's going to be extremely hard as the train is going through some of the hottest places in India.

Then we met two guys and engaged in conversation with them. One of them is a guitar player and the other is a great singer - Verson and Saikath.

Vivek and I asked the man who's sitting next to us if he would like to change the seat so that Verson and Saikath can sit with us. But he hesitated.

Verson began playing the guitar which we managed to borrow from a girl in the next compartment. We all started singing along with him, which helped us forget the heat as the AC wasn't working!

After a while, the man who hesitated to swap the berth came to us asking for the berth so that he can sleep peacefully.

It was a wonderful train journey.

Guwahati:

Finally, we reached Guwahati, the train was a little delayed due to an accident that happened on the adjacent track. We walked out of the Railway station and got into an auto.

Now we are at the Bike rental shop waiting for the owner to hand over the Bullet keys.

Here comes the King of all Bikes - Royal Enfield!

Without wasting any time, we started our journey to the northeast end of India. Around 3:00 pm, we stopped at a Dhaba for lunch. Post lunch, we continued our journey towards the beautiful Tawang. But after a while, we had to stop the bike as it started raining heavily.

Rain slowed down and resumed our journey. We didn't plan to stop after that as we do not have much time.

A couple of hours later, we reached Bomdila and checked into a hotel.

But we decided to head to Selapass the same night around 7:00 pm. After a few minutes, we realized that it's getting foggier and we could barely see the road. It was a bit scary as one side of the road is a deep valley. We even thought of going back to Bomdila and continue the trip next day morning, but then thoughts started spinning in our head. What if there's heavy fog in the morning?
We would be stuck till noon in that case. Hence we made up our mind to continue though we could barely see a thing. As time passed, the roads that we crossed were covered with fog, hence there was no choice of going back.

Finally, we reached SelaPass, a freezing point at 18000 ft above the sea level. We found a tea shop and ran towards the shop. The shopkeeper gave us a hot drink and asked us to stand near the fire
after seeing our condition
A bit relieved now, breaths slowly coming back to normal.

To be continued!
